Local high schools to return to semesters, lockers, common lunch hours
After almost two years of virtual learning, octomesters and quadmesters, Trillium Lakelands high schools will be returning to semesters on Feb. 7.

School board sending COVID testing kits home for the holidays
The Trillium Lakelands District School Board will be sending COVID-19 rapid screening kits home with all their elementary students the week of Dec. 6 as one of the many measures both the board and the province are implementing to ensure a safe return to school after the Christmas holidays.

In another sign that the provincial government believes they have the pandemic under control, the ministry of education announced last week, to wide-based support from parents, students, teachers and school boards, that high schools will have the option of returning to the regular semester system in February 2022 if local COVID numbers allow.

In 2020-2021, the Trillium Lakelands District School Board suspended and/or expelled 780 students. That’s down from previous years, partly because virtual learning ensured less interaction between students, according to the board.

Student trustee position open to Grade 11 or 12 student
Any high school student in either Grade 11 or 12 who is interested in representing student concerns to the board is asked to contact their local principal for more information.
