British Empire Fuels supports Bobcaygeon relief
British Empire Fuels is making a contribution to the Bobcaygeon and Area COVID-19 Relief Fund, to support Pinecrest patients, their families and health care workers affected by the coronavirus.
Greg and Rob Whyte along with their British Empire Fuels family have stepped up to assist during this time of crisis in Bobcaygeon.
During the month of April, one cent from every litre of fuel delivered to BEF customers will be donated to the relief fund. This includes all propane, home heating oil, and gasoline sales.
It is anticipated that depending on the weather, the donation will amount to $7,000 to $10,000. In addition to the financial donation, direct support to all Pinecrest front line workers with delivery requests for propane will be given to existing propane customers with British Empire Fuels. Based on each circumstance, Greg will work directly with these individuals to assist in any way possible.
“We are a family business that has been here in Bobcaygeon for close to 60 years,” Greg commented, “learning about the situation at Pinecrest Nursing Home, we have felt very helpless during this time. We felt this was an opportunity to at least do something.”
The fund is being managed by the Community Foundation of Kawartha Lakes.
“This donation by British Empire Fuels is a heartwarming show of community support,” noted foundation President Mike Perry.
“These funds will be raised and spent locally to help the people in the community who are in such great need right now. We are honoured to be able to use the foundation to help people and their communities, during this unprecedented time.”
The fund will provide immediate support including food supplies, transportation, technology, and mental wellness counselling.
The financial generosity and in-kind contributions from individuals, service clubs and businesses, locally, regionally and from across the province has been tremendous. The Community Foundation is pleased to offer its support and partnership with the Bobcaygeon Advisors to help in this time of heartbreaking crisis.
