Boys and Girls Club Foundation gets Masonic Lodge donation
The Masonic Association of Victoria District presented the Boys and Girls Club of Kawartha Lakes Foundation with a cheque of $10,014.46 to provide financial assistance to children and youth attending programs at the club.
BGCKL Foundation was chosen as the charity of choice by District Deputy Grand Master of the Masonic Association of Victoria District, R.W.Bro.Robert G Webster, upon his election 2018-2019. The donation was the result of proceeds from events held at all 14 lodges in the district (City of Kawartha Lakes, Minden and Haliburton). The donation was presented by R.W.Bro.Robert G Webster, District Deputy Grand Master and V.W.Bro.Pat Dunn District Secretary of the Masonic Association of Victoria District.
“One in five children at the club receive some form of subsidy,” says Amy Terrill, Executive Director. “This donation will go a long way to ensuring children can access our programs including after school, before school, dinner programs, memberships, summer camps, PA days, and sports and recreation. As an example, just $65 sponsors one child for a full week of after school programming which means we could sponsor 275 kids for an entire week with today’s donation.”
“It’s all about the children, “says R.W.Bro.Robert G Webster, District Deputy Grand Master. “Many years ago my son volunteered at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes so I understand the importance of the organization and how many children benefit from the programs and services.”
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes Foundation is proudly launching its annual In from the Cold campaign which aims to ensure no children faces financial barriers to accessing programs offered by the club.
