Bobcaygeon to host International Plowing Match & Rural Expo volunteer recruitment night
The local organizing committee for the 2024 International Plowing Match & Rural Expo is looking for volunteers to help plan and execute a successful event, which is scheduled to take place in Lindsay from October 1-5, 2024.
The committee is holding a volunteer recruitment night in Bobcaygeon on April 24 from 7-9 p.m. at the Bobcaygeon Curling Club, 49 Mansfield Street, Bobcaygeon.
The International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM) was created by the Ontario Plowmen’s Association in 1913 to showcase farmers’ passion for the soil, agriculture, and rural living. It has evolved into a massive rural expo, where our main goal continues to be to educate people about agriculture. This is the largest event of its kind in Canada, attracting people from all over the world. Historical attendance numbers between 60,000 – 80,000 visitors and locals over the five-day event.
The 2024 IPM is happening six months from now in the Kawartha Lakes from October 1 – 5 2024. Local farmers in Kawartha Lakes are coming together to open their fields, transforming them into a large exciting rural expo which includes a huge, tented city at the LEX with virtually non-stop entertaining activities and plowing competitions! Watch plowing through history – old fashioned horse drawn plows to the latest high- tech plows, all competing for the straightest furrows. Spend a day or stay all five days in our full-service RV park with over 1,000 sites. Come and experience all that is special about the IPM and the many communities in Kawartha Lakes.
Interested volunteers are encouraged to email or visit plowingmatch.org/ipm2024 to fill out the volunteer form. Additional information is available through the 2024 IPM & Rural Expo Local Committee office, located at 165 Kent Street West, Suite 302, Bay 9.
