PB&J Comics, among other vendors, will be there, selling superhero comic books and fun collectibles.

BGC Kawarthas is excited to announce in two weeks, on Friday, Dec. 2, from 5-8 p.m., that it is hosting an indoor flea market at the BGC Warehouse. It will be a treasure of works from local small independent businesses and the imagination of some of the youth who attend the club. There will be works of art, food, clothes, and books for sale, all created by locals of Kawartha Lakes. It is not a donation drive for BGC Kawarthas but is meant to be an entrepreneurial skill development event for the Warehouse. Proceeds go towards the artisans and vendors.

The youth confirmed to be selling works include artists Hailey Harmann Harris, Alex Duke and Dakota Butler. The three of them will be selling some of their art sketches, and Harris and Duke will be working together. Additionally, youth Bailey Johnson will be selling her handmade sown winter hats, and Austin Ball will have his own candy store set up.

Artwork being sold will include Métis beaded earrings from Morgan Turcotte of Beaded Roots, hand crafted vegan soaps and skin care from Daniela Mills of The Nature In Us, various works from Jess Spagnolo, who has previously designed and installed murals at BGC Kawarthas, and many more works from additional vendors.

Three local authors have confirmed they will be selling their published novels at the market, Gwen Tuinman, Emma K.C. Couette and William J. McGinn. Couette and McGinn are young adults. Independent online store PB&J Comics, operated by Jordan Scott, will also be there, selling superhero comic books and fun collectibles.

Food available, in addition to Austin Ball’s candy store, includes decorative cookies from Leaha Denney of her cookie store A Dash of Denney and treats from Con Clarkin of Peterborough’s Revelstoke Bakery. It’s definitely a place for those with a sweet tooth.
