Attempted theft from local business leads to arrest

On May 7 the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service was notified of a theft that had just occurred at a Kent Street West business in Lindsay.
Police were informed by store staff that a security guard had arrested a man trying to leave the store with merchandise concealed in a bag.
A member of the City of Kawartha Lakes Police Service attended the business and continued the arrest of the man.
Charged with one count of theft under $5000 is 35-year-old Raymond Albert Smoke of Lindsay.
The accused will make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 14.
