Assault charge for 44-year-old Lindsay man

By Lindsay Advocate

Kawartha Lakes Police had to forcefully enter a Glenelg Street home after they were contacted about a domestic disturbance, which resulted in assault charges for a 44-year-old Lindsay man.

Police responded to a call for a domestic disturbance after a woman appeared at her neighbour’s home saying that she had been assaulted by her ex-common law spouse.

The woman was suffering from a cut on her forehead and a swollen lip as a result of being hit several times by the man.

When police arrived, they could not locate the victim and found blood on the front porch of the home. No one would respond to knocks at the door.

Police then forcefully entered the home and located the victim inside. The suspect was also located in the home hiding in the kitchen.

When the man was arrested, it was discovered that he was on conditions for a prior assault to have no contact or communication with the victim.

The man — who will not be identified to protect the identity of the victim — will appear for a bail hearing at the Lindsay Court on charges of assault and failing to comply with a probation order.
