Arrest of man wanted for numerous thefts, fraud

Four people charged under the Reopening Ontario Act

On the afternoon of June 7 a City of Kawartha Lakes Police constable was on patrol in the area of William Street north in Lindsay.

The officer observed a man walking on the sidewalk who was wanted on the strength of two outstanding arrest warrants.

The officer stopped the man and arrested him without incident.

Charged with 37 criminal charges, which include several counts of theft under $5000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, fraud under $5000 and unauthorized use of a credit card is 35-year-old Raymond Albert Smoke of Lindsay.

The accused was held in custody to attend a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 8.
