New OPP superintendent for CKL area

The OPP announced the appointment of seven new chief superintendents on January 16 at a badge presentation ceremony at General Headquarters in Orillia.

Chief Superintendent Dwight Peer was promoted to Commander, Central Region, which includes jurisdiction for the City of Kawartha Lakes. Commander Peer previously held the rank of Superintendent with the OPP, and has served as a police officer in a successful career to date of over 25 years.

Mayor Letham commented, β€œOn behalf of Council and all of us the City of Kawartha Lakes, a warm welcome to Chief Superintendent Peer. We deeply value the work of all OPP staff who serve our municipality. We congratulate you and wish you all the best in your new leadership role.”

“From all of our Chief Superintendents, you can expect people-centred and frontline-focused leadership that ensures safe communities and a secure Ontario – Chiefs that care about and support our members, while enabling them to fulfill our mission of public safety,” commented Thomas Carrique, Commissioner, Ontario Provincial Police, in a press release from OPP Corporate Communications.

Chief Superintendents are senior leaders in the OPP’s uniform rank structure, exceeded only by the executive ranks of Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner.
