Four young women graduating from local high schools were recognized for their influence, role modelling and positive leadership with the RoseMary Reid Positive Influence Award at their respective commencement exercises.

Soroptimist International of Kawartha Lakes joins with the local schools in their annual recognition activities by presenting the award to one female graduating student from each of the four secondary schools in Kawartha Lakes who models values, beliefs and attitudes that inspire others.

The modest cash award and certificate is presented to a young woman for being an exemplary role model to her peers, focusing on positive character traits. The 2018 recipients are:

Marissa Taylor, Fenelon Falls Secondary School;

Emma Ramsay, I.E. Weldon Secondary School;

Jordyn Roffe, Lindsay Collegiate and Vocational Institute;

Holly Pennings, St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School.

The award is named after RoseMary Reid, a member of Soroptimist International York Region, formerly from the Peterborough club.  RoseMary served as 2016-2017 president of Soroptimist International of the Americas, overseeing clubs in 21 countries and territories.
