Help Kawartha Settlers’ Village win
Kawartha Settlers’ Village in Bobcaygeon has been nominated in Attractions Ontario’s third annual Ontario’s Choice Awards. The Attractions Ontario Awards are chosen by guests who visit these attractions. The City of Kawartha Lakes encourages the public to vote daily until Sept. 30 for Kawartha Settlers’ Village on the Attractions Ontario website to help them win.
“We were very excited to hear we were nominated,” says Robyn Barton, the Kawartha Settlers’ Village marketing coordinator.
“We have a lot of new and exciting events and exhibits this summer, and this is a great way to get people out to Kawartha Settlers’ Village and see what is going on.”
Winners of each individual category will be announced Oct. 1, along with the three attractions that received the most votes overall. The attraction that receives the most votes across all categories will be declared Attraction of the Year at the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario Tourism Summit in October.
When asked what it would mean to Kawartha Settlers’ Village to win, Robyn says, “I think it would solidify the hard work that is done here on a year-to-year basis. I don’t think people realize how much work is done by volunteers, board members and staff. It’s an ongoing project to make the village better, and this award would prove that hard work pays off.”
Make sure to support Kawartha Settlers’ Village and Kawartha Lakes’ history and vote daily.
Each year, Attractions Ontario announces the top Ontario tourist attractions in eight categories, and this year the Kawartha Settlers’ Village has been nominated as a finalist in the Top Small Museum, Art Gallery, or Historic Site category. The Village has more than 20 authentic homes and buildings filled with historical artifacts ranging from 1830 to 1935. Thus, Attractions Ontario has nominated Kawartha Settlers’ Village for its ability to craft and share memorable, historical experiences.
