The Kawartha Lakes Classic Cycling Tour is A Place Called Home’s biggest annual fundraiser, and this year attracted over 100 enthusiastic riders.

Over 100 enthusiastic riders participated in the 20th annual Kawartha Lakes Classic Cycling Tour on Aug 26 to raise funds in support of A Place Called Home.

This exciting event was held at I.E. Weldon Secondary School and offered a variety of fun-filled, scenic cycling routes in the Kawartha Lakes. Individuals and families of all skill levels immensely enjoyed the trail routes (18 km, 33 km, 48 km) and road routes (50 km, 100 km, 160 km) that were carefully crafted by their expert route master to ensure maximum fun. Upon returning to IEWSS, riders enjoyed a delicious pizza lunch provided by Boston Pizza – Lindsay, as well as scrumptious butter tarts from Kawartha Wholesale Bakery.

“This amazing event offers everyone an incredible opportunity to have some fun and give back to the most vulnerable in our community at the same time,” states Jen Lopinski, fund development coordinator at A Place Called Home. “That is a win-win in my books.”

The Kawartha Lakes Classic Cycling Tour is A Place Called Home’s biggest annual fundraiser. The organization provides shelter and support services to the homeless in the City of Kawartha Lakes and the Haliburton County. It must raise over $150.000.00 to keep its operations running smoothly and to ensure everyone has a place to call home.

A Place Called Home would like to thank everyone who attended the event to help raise funds for the homeless. Special thanks are due to presenting sponsor, Boston Pizza, for their very generous contributions to our event. APCH would also like to thank its sponsors: Kawartha Lakes Business Equipment, Economy Wheels Nissan, Russell West Optometry, Weed Man Kawartha Lakes, MVW Construction, Infinity Fine Homes, The Cooperators, Down to Earth Outdoor Store, and The Days Inn. Lastly, it would like to give its heartfelt appreciation to the many incredible volunteers and the Kawartha Cycling Club, who donated hundreds of hours ensuring that the Kawartha Lakes Classic Cycling Tour was a huge success. Without them, this event would not have been possible.
