16-year-old female from Bobcaygeon dead after two-vehicle collision
The City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision in Bobcaygeon.
On Saturday, May 30, shortly before 8:30 p.m., members of the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP were dispatched to a collision involving two motor vehicles at the intersection of County Rd. 49 and Burys Green Rd. in Bobcaygeon.
A 16-year-old female driver from Bobcaygeon was pronounced deceased at the scene. The sole passenger of that vehicle was taken to hospital and later airlifted to a trauma centre by Ornge air ambulance with life-threatening injuries. The other driver was uninjured.
County Rd. 49 closed between White Valley Rd. and Somerville 3rd Concession for the investigation, with assistance from the OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) team. All lanes reopened around 4:00 a.m. on May 31, 2026.
