National Day of Mourning to be virtual this year

The Lindsay and District Labour Council invites the community to join them for the National Day of Mourning Ceremony on April 25, virtually.

The council would like to encourage people to lay a wreath in remembrance of all workers that have died or have been injured due to a workplace hazard and to remember all frontline workers who have lost their lives in the pandemic.

The ceremony is to remember workers who have been injured or killed in the workplace or who have died of occupational related diseases. It is also a time to educate the world and our community that no one should be dying for a job, says a media release from the council.

“The National Day of Mourning provides us all with the opportunity to renew our commitment to the prevention of needless occupational injuries, illness and death and promote worker well-being, by doing so we also go some way toward promoting the well-being of our communities.”
