’12 days of litter’ a success
From Dec. 3 to 14, the Humane Society of Kawartha Lakes asked the public to donate kitty litter during their first ever ’12 Days of Litter’ drive. The goal, 100 units of litter to start the new year off with a full stock.
“We succeeded in this campaign and we have the public and our retail partners to thank,’ says executive director, Henny Venus. “Litter is our most needed item, so having over 100 units donated is a huge success.”
Purchasing and donating litter is something a lot of donors don’t like to do, due to the weight.
“We realize how heavy litter is. This campaign allowed supporters to purchase litter and leave it at the (participating) store. Shelter staff picked up the purchased litter directly from the store, so no lifting was needed by our donors,” added Courtney Bryans, shelter manager.
HSKL would like to thank all those who participated in this campaign. For those who would still like to donate litter, or any other items, the shelter is more than happy to accept them. Shelter hours can be found at hskl.ca
Participating retailers were all located in Lindsay and included: TSC, Trent Pet, Global Pet Foods, PetValu, Giant Tiger, Victor Feeds Horse & Hound, Reid’s ValuMart and La Mantia’s.
