Today, Laurie Scott, MPP for Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock, announced $1.71 million in funding for Ross Memorial Hospital. The investment is intended to address sector challenges and previous funding model inequities and help ensure that families in our region have access to high-quality care.

“Our community relies on investments like this to help us preserve and protect our care delivery, services and operations,” said Veronica Nelson, Interim President & CEO, Ross Memorial Hospital.

“Our team continues to provide exceptional care, and this funding will support us in managing capacity and wait times, so that patients and families can count on getting the best care, when and where they need it.”

Across Ontario, the government is investing an additional $68 million to support small and medium-sized hospitals. “Our government is supporting small and medium-sized hospitals by recognizing the unique challenges they face and taking steps toward relief and a sustainable system,” said Scott.

“We are pleased with the Ontario government’s support in recognizing our significant funding challenges,” said Val Harris, RMH Board Chair. “This investment will go a long way to ensure our community has access to quality care and to help ease hallway medicine in the Kawartha Lakes.”
