Obituaries

With great sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of William "Bill" Allen Lummiss on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, Ontario. Born in East York and raised in Scarborough and Coe Hill, Bill was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, known for his kind heart, quick wit, and remarkable resilience.

A former welder for Ontario Hydro, Bill lived a full life despite the challenges of a brain disease diagnosed in 1978. He found joy in simple pleasures—gardening, music, bowling, preparing food, and time with friends—he never lost his humor or warmth.

Bill is lovingly remembered by his former wife, Mary Callaghan, his children Cathy and Jerry Lummiss, his grandchildren Rhian, Jahmal, & Gurshani Truth, and Patrick Lummiss, his birth sister Beth Lund, and a large extended family. He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Margaret (MacDonald), his stepmother Dorothy (Walker), his brothers Frank and Charles, his sister-in-law Edna, his stepsister Patricia, and his brother-in-law Doug.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 29, from 2:00–3:00 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery Chapel, 347 Lindsay St. S., Lindsay, Ontario. Cremation to follow. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Victoria Road, on Saturday, May 3, at 11:00 a.m.
