The family of Wayne Howard are saddened to announce the news of his passing on November 7, 2025 at the age of 72 in Victoria BC. Wayne had a very difficult health journey for many years and was the strongest man we knew. He had a grumpy exterior but a heart of gold and a will to live like none other.

Wayne was born in Whitby, Ontario to parents John and Bess Howard (Illberg). He attended Sir Sandford Fleming College from 1972 - 1975 for Forestry Technician and spent the first few years of his career fighting forest fires in the north and then building trails for conservation authorities. Wayne’s career took a turn after an injury forced him out. He found new meaning working as a Cobbler in a family business where he enjoyed interacting with his customers in Lindsay, Ontario. He was a talented man and his customers always raved about the work he did.

Wayne is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Howard (Fallis), brother Ron, and his 3 children Stacey, Jennifer (David), and John (Lisa). He was a loving Grandpa/Pop Pop to Sophie, Leo, Bennett, Harper and Emily who will all miss him dearly. Wayne will be sorely missed by nieces and nephews as well as sisters and brothers-in-law who were an important part of his life.

Wayne’s family would like to extend thanks to his care team including Dr Ram for their attention and care during his very difficult health journey. Your support of him allowed us to be with him and know he was in good hands. Thank you for that.

Wayne has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to the Heart and Stroke Society of Canada or Victoria Hospitals Foundation.

A small service will be held on Friday November 14 at 4pm at Sands Funeral Chapel in Colwood. His cremated remains will be interred in Ontario at a later date. Search Sands Funeral Chapel in Colwood BC to sign your condolences.
