Obituary For Stewart Allan Darling

After a lengthy illness, Al Darling, of Markham and Lindsay Ontario passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, at Ross Memorial Hospital. Al leaves behind Grace, his loving wife of 57 years, Milo, his favourite cat and a host of extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Betty Darling as well as his brother Gilbert and his sister Marlene.

After graduating from Ryerson, Al pursued a successful career in the packaging industry and retired early to embark on his photography business. His presentation of Canada’s heritage buildings was commercially successful and many of his photographs appeared in public places, such as the dining room atop the CN Tower.

Al loved animals and people: his volunteer work included time spent at the Toronto Humane Society as well as 20 years as a Canadian Ski Patroller. He had a true passion for sailing, skiing, playing his guitars, travelling internationally and flying his Cherokee airplane.

In keeping with Al’s wishes, no formal funeral or memorial service will be held. We ask on his behalf, that you do not shed a tear. Instead, on a sunny day, if you see a small plane flying overhead, raise a glass of your favourite beverage and toast a life well lived.
