Obituaries

It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald George McCombe announces his passing at Ross Memorial Hospital, with family by his side, on January 21, 2026. Ron was born on November 26, 1932, to the late George and Mildred McCombe, and was the beloved brother of Roger McCombe.

Ron was the devoted life partner of Laurie Moynes for 42 years, a loving father to Sean (Lorraine) and Shelley (Greg Orr), and a proud grandfather to Brandie, Ashley, Joseph, Jessica, Kevin, Adam, Brienna, Brittanie, and Breenan. He was also a cherished great-grandfather of four.

He will be sadly missed by Bill and Brenda Moynes, Charlene McColl, and his special friends Sharon Tracy and Marg Cameron.

Ron was a proud member of the Moose for many years and was well known for his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit. Over the years, he held many careers, including Computer Room Supervisor with Loblaws, owner/operator of McCombe Billiards in Lindsay, two gas bars and a propane bar, and most recently Ron’s Propane Revalve.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the B4 Unit at Peterborough Regional Health Centre for their wonderful care, and to the Palliative Care Unit at Ross Memorial Hospital for their compassion and support.

A graveside service will take place in the spring at Eden Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kawartha Lakes Humane Society, A Place Called Home, Women’s Resources, or Peterborough Regional Health Centre, and would be greatly appreciated.
