Obituary For Robert "Bob" Joseph Ashmore

Passed away peacefully, in his 87th year, at the Ross Memorial Hospital on Monday, September 1, 2025, surrounded by family. Bob will be remembered by his loving wife of 57 years, Charlene Ashmore, and his children Steven (Ildy), Colleen (Rob), Michael (Nicole), and Dave. Grandpa / Gumps to Giselle, Rachelle, Hannah, Paige, Nathan, and Ryan. Bob will also be remembered lovingly by many extended family members and friends. Bob is predeceased by his parents; Albert and Louise Ashmore and is remembered by his brother Paul and family of Kitchener.

Bob was born and raised in Lindsay attending LCVI. He left town to work with the Bank of Nova Scotia in 1959. He returned to Lindsay in 1967. He was the Accountant with Rosedale Furniture in Fenelon Falls until 1972 before joining FG Reynolds Realty & Development in Bobcaygeon as their Office Manager. In 1980 he assumed ownership of his father’s business on Kent Street in Lindsay, Ashmore’s Smoke Shop. He sold the business in 1991 and enjoyed a brief stint in sales with Golden’s Stationary & Gifts. Bob joined Stoddart Funeral Home in 1993 where he worked until he passed. It was here he developed many treasured friendships with coworkers who he loved like family. Bob was an active member of his parish community and a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1968.

Bob’s favourite times were spent at his home on Colony Road where he could be found laughing with family, working in his gardens and greenhouses, or watching the game with Charlene.

A visitation will take place at Stoddart Funeral Home, 24 Mill Street, Lindsay on Tuesday, September 9th from 2:00 – 4:00pm, and 6:00 – 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 31 Russell Street East, Lindsay on Wednesday, September 10th at 1:00pm. Private interment will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow at Celebrations, Lindsay, 35 Lindsay Street North, Lindsay. If desired, a donation can be made in memory of Bob, to Operation Smile (made by cheque at the funeral home).
