With grateful hearts for a life well lived we announce mom’s passing on June 7, 2026, just shy of her 100th birthday surrounded by family and much love. Predeceased by her husband Arnold “Arnie” Rea (2018). Loving mother of Beverley Short (the late Wayne, 2025), and Bonnie Drake (the late Dale, 2025). Cherished grandmother of Jason Short (Tracey), Joleen Thomas (Stuart Humphries), Jeremy Thomas (Lana) and her late grandson Ryan Short (1993). Great-grandmother of Cody, Jack, and Adam Short, Olivia, Violet, and Tristan Humphries, and Ellie and Ben Thomas, also remembered by her extended grandchildren and their families. Predeceased by her parents Perley and Violet Miles (née Sargent) along with brothers Buddy and Barry, sisters Loraine (Robert) and Marsha (John) as well as sisters- and brothers-in-law Jean (Bert) and Dorothy (Gord). Fondly remembered by nieces, nephews, and many other special people in her life. Queenie’s family is very appreciative of the expert compassionate care provided by Extendicare Kawartha Lakes along with Dr. Steven Hainer. Visitation took place at the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay (705-328-2721), on Wednesday June 17, 2026 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at the chapel at 12 p.m. Following the reception, interment took place at Emily Omemee Cemetery. If desired memorial donations to Extendicare Kawartha Lakes, St. Paul’s Anglican Church, or the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
