Obituaries

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Phyllis Sandra Ferguson on March 19th, 2026, in the palliative care unit of Peterborough Regional Health Centre.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of over fifty years Donald, her only son Kevin, brother Donald, sister-in-law Bev Feggi and brother-in-law Vern. She is survived by daughter-in-law Melissa (Ryan), sister-in-law Marie, brothers-in-law Garry, Robert (Susan), and Brian (Barb). Very proud grandma to Tobin, Sadie and Charlotte. She cherished her grandchildren and took great joy making memories with them. She will also be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Phyllis retired from the Durham School Board as a beloved elementary teacher and moved to Country Club Heights in Fenelon Falls in 2001. She loved her family immensely, time enjoying nature at home, special summers at the cottage on Allen Lake, crafts, fishing, golf and especially gardening.

A special thank you to Terry Ferguson for his loyalty to both Phyllis and Don, Marie Ferguson for her extra love and care during her final days, close friend Karen Parker for her support throughout Phyllis’s battle with cancer, Frank Bremner for all his help as well as other neighbours from her community who have been so thoughtful during these trying times.

Arrangements have been entrusted to THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOME – MONK CHAPEL. Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held in early summer. If desired, memorial donations can be made to the Lakeridge Health
