Obituary For Michael (Mike) Eoin Ferguson

It is with profound sadness that the family of Michael Eoin Ferguson announces his sudden passing due to heart and lung conditions in Toronto, on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at the age of 66.

Mike, affectionately known as “Ferg,” was a loyal and steadfast support to his mother, Winnifred Ferguson (née Jewell). He will be deeply missed by his stepmother, Frances Ferguson, and is lovingly remembered by his adoring sister Christa Ormiston (Paul), brother Kyle Ferguson (Colleen), and his “bonus sister”, Sharon Connell (John). His youth is preserved in his many beloved nieces, nephews, and special cousins from both the Jewell and Ferguson families, as well as his Aunt Hazel. Mike holds a lasting place in the hearts of his lifelong friends from the Lindsay and Dunsford areas—especially Jeannie and Peggy—who will miss him dearly. He is now reunited with his predeceased father, Eoin Ferguson, and his best friends Blaine Bunn and Dan Brown.

Mike was born in Scarborough, and moved to Lindsay at the age of four where the Kawarthas became the backdrop to some of his happiest times, filled with laughter, friendship, and unforgettable memories. His passion for education was fostered from a young age at Queen Victoria Public School and continued as he attended Central Senior and I.E. Weldon S.S.. Upon graduation he attended Trent university before pivoting to pursue his interests in Computer Electronics, graduating with a diploma from Sir Sandford Fleming.

Mike had a unique way of living life—equal parts curiosity, discipline, humour, and adventure. Post graduation he moved to Chilliwack where he trained with the Canadian Forces and was appointed an Officer before rising to the distinction of Captain. Mike’s knowledge, dedication, and initiative contributed to significant accomplishments across the nation and earned him recognition from his superiors. In civilian life, Mike went on to earn a Master’s and after relocating to Toronto, he spent the next 12 years in project management within the aviation industry. He retired in December 2023 and upon reflection, devoted himself to what mattered most: travel, music, friends, and family.

Mike’s passion for music was woven into the fabric of his being. He became a familiar face in many local bands in the Lindsay area and his growing collection of guitars supported his creation of music and brought him joy

Friends and family are invited to join in a celebration of Mike’s life on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Celebrations, 35 Lindsay Street North, Lindsay, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Words of remembrance will be shared at 2:00 p.m.

The family would like to thank Toronto EMS and the staff at the Toronto General Hospital and University Health Network for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Michael Ferguson would be appreciated by the family, supporting the Pulmonary Rehab Clinic Fund, at UHN Foundation. Please visit UHNfoundation.ca/tribute or call 416-603-5300.
