Obituary For Mary Lou Helen Farrow (nee Teel)
Mary Lou Helen Farrow (Teel) passed away May 12th 2026 peacefully at Soldier’s Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family after a short battle with dementia. She was a strong and independent woman whose warmth and determination touched everyone who knew her.
Born in Lindsay, Ontario on October 19,1950, Mary Lou was the beloved daughter of Elizabeth (Lytle) and Robert Teel. Raised in Victoria Road, she carried her small-town roots and strong family values with her throughout her life.
For more than 35 years, Mary Lou shared a loving and devoted partnership with her spouse, Dave Dupuis.
Mary Lou was a devoted mother and best friend to her daughter Christina (Kevin), and to Baby Scott, (predeceased) . She shared many years and memories with their father, John Farrow. She was the loving and very proud grandma of Lane Hannan (Tristan), truly the light of her life.
She was also a caring stepmother to Craig (Andrea), Ryan, and Terry, (predeceased)and a cherished bonus grandmother to Madelyn and Lucas.
She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Fred (Debbie), and was predeceased by her siblings Carol, Lee, and Billy Teel. Mary Lou will also be fondly remembered by her brother-in-law Bob Baldwin, sister-in-law Fiona Wagg, many cousins, and her son-in-law Glenn Watts.
Known affectionately as “Auntie Boom Boom,” Mary Lou held a special place in the hearts of three generations of nieces and nephews. She also treasured her lifelong friendships with Lynda Beard and Diane Ford.
Mary Lou moved to the city at a young age to begin working life. In 1983, she fulfilled a lifelong dream when she purchased The Brick Oven in Woodville. Her renowned cooking and baking became a favourite among the early morning GM workers and the Saturday farmers from the Sales Barn. Feeding people brought her great joy, and her warmth and hospitality made everyone feel welcome.
Mary Lou loved travelling to sunny southern destinations each winter, always eager for new adventures and warm beaches. In retirement, she settled in Orillia, where she enjoyed tending to her beautiful gardens.
Mary Lou’s kindness, laughter, devotion to family, and generous spirit will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held at the Kirkfield Lions Club 973 Portage Rd, Kirkfield, on May 24th from 1-4 p.m. Private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
