Obituary For Lee Nancy Polischuik

It is with heavy hearts and tears in our eyes that we announce the sudden passing of Lee Nancy Polischuik (nee Galbraith) on Thursday, August 22nd, 2024, in her 73rd year, at her home of 31 years in the Kawarthas. Lee was predeceased by her parents, Douglas Sigsworth Galbraith and Allison Jessie Galbraith (nee Raymond). She was the beloved wife of Richard Joseph Polischuik, with whom she shared 46 loving years. Lee was the cherished mother to Lynne Jessica Polischuik, Ashley Dawn Polischuik (Glenn), and Laura Allison Polischuik (David). She was also an adored presence in the life of her Doodle, Allie.

Lee was a treasured sister to Lynne (John) Duguid, Kent (Kathy) Galbraith, Scott (Linda) Galbraith, the late Jennifer Chapman, Susan Kimberly Galbraith, Cameron Galbraith, and Jeff (Debby) Galbraith. She was a doting aunt to Murray (Michelle) Galbraith and their girls, Nicholas (Melanie) Chapman and their children, Benjamin (Emma) Galbraith and their son, Kally (Paul) Chapman and their daughters, as well as Kim and Terry. She adored her adopted daughters, Heather Bennett, “Hooty” Leishman and Brandi Bergman, and loved being included in the lives of their children.

Though her excitement of the news was immeasurable, Lee just missed becoming Grandma to William, who is expected to join the family in November to Laura and David. However, she was proudly already known to all children as Gramma Lee. Her delightful presence was marked by the joyous laughter of children, especially when she would tickle them with her boney chin, causing waves of giggles that filled the room. Watching her kids grow up and celebrating each birthday and milestone brought her immense happiness. Lee's holiday celebrations, particularly Christmas, were legendary for their grandeur. She adorned her home with a seemingly endless array of Christmas trees and decorations, spreading festive cheer in every corner, including the bathroom. Never a Christmas Eve went by without her belly laughs as the family watched Christmas Vacation.

Lee had a vibrant spirit, a great sense of humour and loved to dance to her favourite 'Boat Music,' which included hits like "Caribbean Queen," Toto's "Africa," any Celine Dion, Matt Dusk, Josh Groban or Frank Sinatra ballad, Sting, and the memorable “Kicked Down the Road By A Train” by Seal. If you ever had the chance to ride in the car alongside Lee, it’s a guarantee you would have known all the lyrics to "High" by Lifehouse Family.

Lee's warmth, creativity, and infectious joy will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her. Although her later mobility slowed her down, she loved her family to no end and always ensured she could do whatever she could to show her love and support. You never questioned it; it was always there. She welcomed people into the family with arms wide open and was forever proud of her girls and their accomplishments. Her greatest pride was seeing her daughters succeed in their endeavours and happily creating their own families and lives. Lee’s love for Rick was endless, he was her rock and she, his. Being his loving wife was her favourite title, and no one ever passed her by that did not get a heartfelt and loving story about her man. Lee made sure it was clear that her love for her family was forever, to the moon and back, as she would repeatedly say. If anyone is missed here, please know she loved each and every one of her friends and family, regardless of the little things, and she will be watching over us all. Especially her soon-to-be grandson, William, who will have the best Guardian Angel there ever was. As it was fondly pointed out, she likely arrived in heaven and immediately tripped over the late “Dana Dog”, but I'm sure the puppy cuddles she got, and hugs from those before her, will keep her safe and will create a warm forever memory for those she left on earth.

As many of you know, Lee loved flowers of any kind, and flowers are greatly appreciated in her honour, but in lieu of flowers, should you chose, contributions can be made to the Ontario SPCA as she loved her dogs. Service will be held at Mangan Funeral Home, 332 Osbourne Street in Beaverton, ON, at 11:00am on Saturday August 31st, 2024. Rest in Peace, Mom.
