Obituaries

Passed away peacefully at Case Manor on February 16th, 2026. Predeceased by his wife Ruth, Jack will be deeply missed by his daughter Elizabeth Williamson and her husband Wayne. He will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews, cousin Jim McGavin (Susan), god-son Kyle Balloch (Lynn) and dear friend Sandra Small. Jack is predeceased by his son Timothy, sisters Yvonne and June and his brothers Roy ‘Dougall’ and Earl ‘Bill’.

Jack was born in Chatham Ontario on August 13th, 1920. He served in the Canadian Air Force during WWII, stationed in the Outer Hebrides for 4 years. His British war bride Ruth Jackson arrived ahead of him and was greeted by her new in-laws Roy and Shirley Hicks, who owned the Rockland House Hotel at the time. They spent their summers in Bobcaygeon while Jack attended the University of Toronto. Graduating as an engineer, he was hired by the Ford Motor Co. for the next 26 years. He held positions in Australia and Spain during that time. For many years Jack and Ruth enjoyed vacationing at their villa in Nerja, Spain as well as travelling extensively in Europe and Asia. Taking an early retirement and living in Bobcaygeon for 50 years, Jack enjoyed square dancing, hockey, boating, gardening, and golfing. His other interests included genealogy, model trains, playing chess and bridge, learning how to build a cedar strip canoe and polishing all his red Fords. Jack was known for his outgoing personality, wonderful smile and an interest in everyone he met.

The family wishes to give a special thank-you to the staff at Case Manor and his good friend Sandy Reid for their loving care towards Jack.

Arrangements have been entrusted to THE HENDREN FUNERAL HOME – MONK CHAPEL. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at a later date.
