Entered into rest peacefully with family by her side, at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 in her 98th year.

Helen was born in Lindsay Ontario, the 10th of 13 children, to Robert and Elizabeth Fletcher on August 21, 1927. She attended Lindsay Vocational Institute for high school in Lindsay.

She started working as a bank teller for the CIBC branch in Lindsay in 1944 and then was transferred to Woodville as the branch manager in 1945. In January 1946, she met a local Woodville boy Jack McIntyre and the two were married in Lindsay on July 24, 1948. They resided in Woodville for a short period before moving to Omemee, then moving back to Woodville for Jack to take over his Dad’s business known as ‘Woodville Garage’. Jack’s father had started his business in 1919 and then became known as McIntyre Motors with the father-son partnership, which Helen would look after the books and payroll for the business until it closed in 2003. Together Helen and Jack, raised 6 children. They were married until Jack’s death in February of 1979. Helen was very involved in the Woodville community her whole life. She was the last charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Woodville branch and was a member for over 70 years. She was a councillor for the former Municipality of the Village of Woodville from 1979 to 1997. She chaired the historical committee for Woodville's centennial in 1984. Over the years she helped to organize and volunteer for many fundraisers towards the building of the new arena, the medical centre, and many other worthwhile events.

Helen loved travelling and had wonderful great trips with many friends. She was an avid curler over the years and after she stopped playing she was a die-hard follower watching any curling event that was on tv, she enjoyed her bingo nights, loved going to the dances, and summers at the cottage on Canal Lake. Helen enjoyed gardening and attending bid euchre with trips to Casino Rama.

Helen was the beloved mother of Robert McIntyre (the late Nancy) of Woodville, Judy McIntyre (Sharon) of Chatham, Mary Kennedy of Woodville, Margaret Andrus (Bill) of Port Hope, Susan Bell (Larry) of Cameron, the late Barbara Brasier (Keith) of Lindsay.

Loving grandmother of Andrew Veale, Adam Andrus (Tammy)(the late Aubrey), James Veale, Heather Woodman (Gary), Amy McIntyre (Dieter), Julie Purchase (Scott), Steven Veale, Katy Bell, Stacey Brasier, and Jeff Brasier (Brandon). Great grandmother of Isaac and Hayley Andrus; Hollie, Madison and Ashlee Woodman; Evan, Parker and Addison Saunders; and Remington and Jax Bell. She was predeceased by her sisters and brothers Isabella Rootham (Harold), Mary Brien (Teddie), Betty Kittle (Henry), Margaret Harrison (Robert), Sally Bryans (Alvin), Sonny Fletcher, Susie Thurston (Frank), Bernie Travis (Steve Scriver) (Gordon Travis), John Fletcher (Kay), Evelyn Woolacott (Gordon), Robert Fletcher (Pat), Joan Brunt (Duke), and by sister-in-law, Lois Young (Sandy).

She was a loving aunt to many, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place at the Woodville United Church, on Saturday May 3rd from 11:00am until time of funeral service at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at South Eldon Cemetery, Lorneville. A reception will follow the interment at the Woodville Legion. If desired, a memorial donation can be made to the Woodville and District Legion Branch #184 or Woodville United Church, by a cheque.
