Obituaries

SCHMIDT, Glenna Margaret of Lindsay, and formerly of Kitchener, passed away peacefully at the age of 76 on Thursday, July 31, 2025. Glenna was born in Walkerton, Ontario. Daughter of the late Harvey and Margaret Frederick. Glenna was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred Schmidt, her step-son, Dale Schmidt, grandsons, Steven Schmidt and Bobby Samounty, and her sister, Margaret Frederick.

Glenna will be missed by her step-children, Brenda (Wayne) Schmidt, Brian (Denise) Schmidt, Curtis Schmidt, Kim Kipling, and Janeen (Kevin) Day. Step grandmother to Troy (Samantha) Schmidt, Chris (Kadie) Palubeski, Sarah (Mike) Palubeski, Scott (Crystal) Schmidt, Ryan Kipling, and Brent Day. Glenna will be fondly remembered by her sisters and brothers, Millie Heinbecker, Mitch Frederick, Genny (Bruce) Leach, Jean (Rob) Young, Henny Gates, Irene Price, John Frederick, Debbie Link, and Jane Runstedler as well as numerous nieces and nephews on both sides. Glenna’s family would like to sincerely thank all the doctors, nurses, and staff at Oshawa Hospital, Ross Memorial Hospital and Victoria Manor, in Lindsay for the care and compassion Glenna received. Special thanks to Glenna’s friends, Merilyn Junkin, Janet Currie, Carol Kuipers, Faye Quinn, and Bill and Anne Hogg for helping her when needed. Your kindness will not be forgotten.

A celebration of Glenna’s life will take place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (40 Wiiliam St. North, Lindsay) on Friday, September 19, 2025 at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow. Visitation will take place before the celebration from 1 - 2 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.
