Obituary For Emilio Dino Sepic
Mil Sepic—Emilio Dino Sepic—slipped away on January 13th, 2026 at Ross Memorial Hospital after facing a long illness with his classic cheerful spirit. He leaves behind his beloved life partner of 36 years, Donna Brooks, their daughter, Paula Brooks (Balmer), granddaughter Aenea Balmer, and his close siblings, Walt Sepic (Kingston), Mark Sepic (Toronto), and Patricia (Cookie) Tschritter (Edmonton) and partners, brother-in-law Kenneth Brooks, sister-in-law Julia MacLaughlin, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews and their children. Mil was born post-war in 1950 in a Displaced Persons camp in northern Italy. He came as a toddler with his mom, Angela Pistone (of Italy) to join his dad, Alexander Sepic (of Croatia) to settle in Hamilton, Ontario, via Pier 21. He grew up surrounded by friendly neighbours speaking Polish, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese. An avid reader with a keen imagination, Mil created, acted & directed in action plays with his brother Walt. As a teenager, Mil taught himself to play guitar and began to play at coffeehouses across the city. Mil moved to Toronto, went looking for a high soprano for the rock opera he’d written, and met his love, Donna. Together, they opened Milworks Home Decor and painted and decorated homes across Toronto, learning new creative techniques all the time. Mil and Donna visited Lindsay to retire and loved it! They moved here in 2014, and became active members of the Seniors’ Centre. Mil started 2 music groups: Folk Jam; and a rock band, The Old Timers. Mil also joined the art group and two creative writing groups with enthusiasm. Mil had a short story published in “Kawartha Lakes Stories: Autumn, Volume 3.” He created castles for his grandnieces, complex and wonderful Steampunk costumes with interlocking gears, and was working on a set of large steampunk wheels to spruce up his walker. Mil was curious, good-natured, and exuberant with creative ideas. He had a playful spirit, enjoyed history and exploring places with Donna, and he loved his extended family deeply. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, May 23rd, 11-3 at Celebrations on 35 Lindsay St. N. “Speeches” are at 12. Come enjoy happy memories. There will be music!
