Obituary For Dorothy Helène Bishop

In her home on January 1, 2026, Dorothy Helène Bishop passed away peacefully, at the age of 98. Dorothy was born in Brighton, England to Maude and John Barnden. During World War II, she married Joseph F. Bishop (predeceased), a Private serving in the Canadian army and stationed in the U.K. After demobilization, they moved to Joseph’s hometown of Lindsay, Ontario, where they had four children.

Dorothy was a loving mother to David (predeceased), Susan Fairweather (Stu), Sherri Grieder (Gord, predeceased) and Shelley Warrington (Ken). She was grandmother to Kerri (predeceased), Mark, Lindsay, Lauren, Jenna, Taryn, Kyle, Holly, Brittany, Jennifer, and great-grandmother to twenty-one!

Dorothy was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed lawn bowling, darts, cards, and trips to the casino. As a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 67 Ladies Auxillary, she ran the kitchen for many years, served as President and was elected to the position of Deputy Zone Commander.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Sherri Grieder, Holly Hill, and Dr. Essak for the compassionate and devoted care they provided to Dorothy in her final years.

Cremation has taken place and interment of Dorothy’s ashes will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lindsay.
