Obituary For Brian (Dale) Drake
After living with Severe COPD, Dale passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Ross Memorial Hospital on Friday March 28, 2025 in his 80th year. Dale is survived by his loving wife Bonnie (nee Rea) (Thomas). They married in 1996 and together have a wonderful blended family of 6 children. Marty (Kimberley) Drake, Jenny (Chris Battis), Janessa (Scott MacDonald), Jacquie (Darryl Peterson), Joleen Thomas (Stuart Humphries), Jeremy (Lana) Thomas.
Beloved Grandfather of Taylor, Marin, Ginger, Vivian, Cole, Finn, Ellie, Ben, Olivia, Violet, Tristan, Brandon, Bradley, Kyle and Ashley. He is also survived by sisters and brother, Faye (Charlie) Lloyd, Dean (Alma predeceased), June Beddows (Daryl predeceased), Donna (Jim) Scott, sister-in-law Pam (Keith predeceased), Mother-in-Law Queenie Rea, and sister and brother-in-law Bev (Wayne) Short, remembered by many nieces and nephews and their families also Sharon and Melanie. Dale was predeceased by parents Fred and Effie Drake, brothers George (Helen), Harvey, Sister Glenna (Ivan) Smith. Dale was a partner with BDO for many years and enjoyed helping his clients succeed. After his retirement in 2005, his happy place was living on the Glen Road with Bonnie where they enjoyed many successful plowing matches, always with a grin on his face, plowing a straight furrow with his beloved black team of Percherons.
Dale loved life, family, friends, neighbors and his beloved dog Skip. He made time for everyone, was a mentor, always willing to listen and help if he could. He was well respected by everyone and gave good financial and sage advice to anyone who asked. Special thanks to Dr. Steven Hainer and the staff at Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindy Mackey and staff at Mackey Funeral Home. Also to the amazing caregivers who where in his life. Cremation has taken place and there will be a service at 1:30 pm followed by a celebration of Dale's Life taking place at Celebrations 35 Lindsay Street North, Lindsay, Ontario on Saturday April 12, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dale's memory can be made to a local charity of you choice.
