Their community invovlement was huge. Dad was on the volunteer fire department evently becoming Fire Chief for Mariposa Twp. Mom was the answering service for the fire department for years until progress provided the members with fire phones and mom's duty reduced. They also worked endless hours at the Oakwood Arena on Eldon road where they filled the wood stove to keep players warm and cooked many meals for hockey tournments and played the music for skating Saturday nights. She was also involved in the fundraising for the new community centre and was very proud when it opened 1977. She then served as Secretary Treasurer at the Community Centre for over 25 years during the day and working in the booth at night and weekends. The pride Bea and Merv had in their community was second to none. Bea was also involved in the organization of getting the Mariposa Credit Union open in Little Britian where she served on the board. They also treasured their church family and for many years attended the Oakwood United Church. Family and community service was always priority one to mom and dad and they will be truly missed.
