It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara May DeRusha (nee Sproule), on October 9, 2025 at age 89. Barbara was the devoted wife to the late John DeRusha for 65 years. Barbara is survived by her only son David (Donna), who she loved beyond measure, her adored grandchildren Danielle (Christopher) and Jeffrey (Ashley), and her 4 great grandchildren Olivia, Jordan, Chloe and Sophia. Barb was a devoted care giver and was excited when two other children came into her life. She took great pride in caring for Tara (Kevin) and Jeffrey (Dana) who became family to her. Barbara is predeceased by her beloved mother Millie Sproule, her brothers Jack (Mary), Murray, and Gordon. She is also survived by her much loved niece Cathy and nephews David, Michael (Cherrie), Rick (Kim). Barbara was lucky enough to have many special people in her life Roberta and Jim, Wendy and John, Linda, Joanne and Don and their respective families. She will be remembered for her kindness and compassion, always offering a warm hug, a gentle smile, and a kind word to everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family of Barbara DeRusha will receive friends at the Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, in Lindsay (705-328-2721) on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 10 - 11 a.m. A Service to Celebrate her life will be held in the Chapel at 11 a.m. followed by a reception. As expressions of sympathy memorial donations maybe made by cheque through the Mackey Funeral Home or online to the Ross Memorial Hospital Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Canada. The family would like to thank the staff of William Place and Victoria Manor for their care and compassion.
