Obituary For Alexander William Thomas Cochrane

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Alexander William Thomas “Al” Cochrane, of Bobcaygeon, Ontario, on June 10, 2026, in Lindsay, Ontario, in his 86th year. Predeceased by beloved wife of 52 years, Sandra (Johnson) Cochrane, dear mother Edith Lillian (Read) Cochrane and father, Alexander William Thomas Cochrane.

A gifted artist, craftsman, and storyteller, Al was passionate about his restoration work on the historic Dentzel Carousel of Centre Island, Toronto, his Country Corners comic strip, Beeton Record and Schomberg Sentinel (1979 to 1988), his woodcarvings, poetry, music, and traditional hand-painted signs still found throughout Ontario.

Al’s unique exuberance will be missed by son Rusty; daughters Robynne (Charlie) and Dennise; grandchildren Nic (Tina), Ashlie (Jamal), Kiersten, Ben (Ariane), Stephanie (Coddi), Bailey (Joseph), and Mac (Holly), Keon, Malaika; great-grandchildren Katilyn, Taya, Liam, Elijah, Walter, Carson, Marigold, Savannah, and Amelia; friends George, Kenny and Buddy the Cat.

Family and friends are invited to join a Celebration of Life on July 3rd at Kawartha Settlers’ Village Pavilion, Bobcaygeon, 1-3 pm.

In memory of Al, donations to Caygeon Carvers or Highland Cinemas Cat Sanctuary would be gratefully appreciated.
