Kawartha Lakes unites behind Ross Memorial Hospital’s $25 million vision

Since launching the public phase of the WE ARE THE ROSS campaign on June 19, the community has helped to push the hospital closer to its goal of $25 million.
“When we launched the public phase of the campaign, we had just reached $21 million. Now we’ve exceeded $21.8 million,” said Erin Coons, RMH Foundation CEO.
Throughout the summer different groups hosted a variety of fundraising events such as poker runs, golf days, gift matching initiatives and candy sales.
The goal of the fundraiser is to raise $25 million to help improve care at the hospital. With plans to modernize and expand the emergency department and ICU; upgrading diagnostic technology like MRI and CT scanners; and improving patient experiences by connecting real time test results and patient information to make it available to every care provider.
“It’s thanks to the caring and generosity of people throughout Kawartha Lakes that we’re experiencing this incredible momentum—and it’s why we are confident that we will be successful,” said Coons.
Residents will soon be receiving holiday appeal letters, which encourages their support in this fundraiser. “We are encouraging participation from all areas of Kawartha Lakes. From our campaign volunteers to our donors, so many people are helping us to move the needle closer to our fundraising goal. Twenty-five million dollars is a monumental undertaking. Together, we will make is happen,” said Founding Chair Tim Shauf.
The foundation will also be launching the WE ARE THE ROSS business community program this fall, which will provide new opportunities to recognize the generosity of local business leaders.
And what percentage of the 25 million dollars will go to administration ? Let’s see the breakdown.
Remember when our politicians said the lottery would fund hospitals. If that was true this would not be needed.
