A member of the Kawartha Lakes Police Service has been charged by the Ontario Provincial Police in connection to an off-duty incident.

On June 15, the member was arrested and charged with four counts of assault and one count of mischief in connection to the incident.  The names of the involved persons will not be released due to privacy and safety concerns.

The member was scheduled to appear in Lindsay’s Ontario Court of Justice on July 17, 2025.

The member has been suspended with pay as per the requirements of the Community Safety and Policing Act of Ontario.

I believe the option is NOW of the police service whether or not the individual receives pay while they are on vacation waiting for the criminal charges to be addressed in Court.
THAT BEING SAID, the most dangerous element of policing is the personality attracted to and within the job.
