Draw the Line protest for climate action to be held Sept. 28 in Lindsay

On September 28, Kawartha residents will rally in Victoria Park in Lindsay to demand urgent climate action and a just future. Hosted by Seniors for Climate Action Now!-Kawartha (SCAN!-Kawartha). The event is part of the global Draw the Line movement.
Canadians face severe climate events like flooding, heatwaves, and wildfires due to fossil fuel burning, said SCAN! member Sherry Hillman.
The group’s demands include no new oil and gas projects, tax oil and gas companies, invest in renewable energy, and more.
Rallies are happening across Canada.

Anyone attending should record and post videos on youtube that we can all watch , of them surviving the winter without fossil fuels. Don’t just talk the talk. Walk the walk. Should be very entertaining. Also, there are many ways to donate your own cash to companies that want to work on ‘renewable energy’ projects. Donate YOUR OWN money to these projects. When the rest of us see the incredible technology they invent, I’m sure we will all jump on board. In the mean time, I’ll use oil and gas to survive.
Net zero for Canada has always been a impotent and therefore failed strategy. Canada’s reduction in CO2 will never change the climate. Its mathematically impossible. In fact, less than 1 months CO2 output from Chinese coal plants is about the size of Canada’s total man made CO2… net zero could never put a dent in it.
All it did was make a few oligarchs rich ( Elon Musk types) by emphasizing and subsidizing alternative fuels and food, while denegrating our physical sector economy, causing billions of investment to flee. Trying to solve a global issue with national policy wont work. .
Just think about how futile and expensive that is for the younger generation.
Agree 100% with the writer. Don’t understand why fellow seniors who are likely quite comfortable financially, want the working class to support taxation of fossil fuels, when the impact on Canada is infinitesimal compared to the other larger emitters around the world. Rather than virtue signaling to “save the planet”, why not offer tangible support to organization right here at home. A couple of suggestions are Ross memorial Hospital, Kawartha Food Source, & A Place Called Home.
