Obituary For Loretta Tait
Loretta passed peacefully at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay after three days in palliative care, surrounded by her loving family—Gord, Cathy (Dave), and Sheri only a few of the many whom cherished her.
She was just days shy of her 88th birthday. Born on March 23, 1938, she went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on March 20, 2026. The family is deeply grateful that so many who loved her were able to visit and say their goodbyes.
Loretta was the heart and foundation of her large family—the steady presence who held everyone together through life’s many joys and sorrows. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Gord; her cherished children, Cathy (Dave) and Clayton (Meg); and is now reunited with her eldest son, Calvin (Janice), from whom she had been separated for less than a month, joining her late children, Christine, Clinton and her late grandsons Trevor, Shaun and Jeremiah.
She will be dearly missed by her stepchildren: Michael (Lisa), Sheri, Denise (Rob), and Teresa (Dave).
Loretta’s legacy lives on through her many beloved grandchildren: Joshua, Tanya, Faith (Shane), Rachelle (Troy), Stephen (Amy), Michaela (Edward), Isaiah (Chloe), Luke, Josiah (Kyra), Nathaniel, Micah, Christy (Jean), Jason (Shannon), Amanda (Brody), Matthew (Brandy), Joshua (Alison), Cyndi (Nick), Jessie, Kelly (Dylan), Kendra, and many extended grandchildren. She was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren and, with great pride, one great-great-grandchild. Loretta is the much loved sister of Leslie (Wayne).
As a mother, wife, sister, aunt, friend, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Loretta left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her faith was central to her life, and she lived as an example of love, strength, and devotion that will continue to guide her family for generations.
A celebration of life to honour Loretta will be held at Trentside Baptist Church, 80 Colborne street, Fenelon Falls, on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elim Lodge, a place dear to Loretta’s heart that blessed many lives over the years.
