TS Manufacturing is investing $5 million into its plant, with $750,000 from the new Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness (AMIC) stream of the Regional Development Program. Through this project, TS Manufacturing will support local advanced manufacturing, invest in new equipment and create 10 new jobs, upskill 15 jobs and retain 106 jobs.
TS Manufacturing designs, manufactures, and installs production systems for the sawmill and mining industries globally.
“We are making a $5M investment in advanced manufacturing equipment and supporting infrastructure to enable us to increase productivity, capacity and manufacturing flexibility so that we can offer our automated solutions to smaller and medium sized customers,” said Ev Smith, owner. “We are pleased to have the Province’s support on this project with funding from the AMIC program.”
The recently launched Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness (AMIC) stream of the Regional Development Program will support Ontario advanced manufacturers to invest in the equipment, advanced technologies and skilled workforce needed to improve competitiveness and growth, and to create, retain and bring jobs back to every region of the province.

- The first application round for the Advanced Manufacturing and Innovation Competitiveness (AMIC) stream was open from January 17 to February 10, 2022.
- Announced as part of the 2021 Fall Economic Statement, AMIC is a new stream of the Regional Development Program. The two-year, $40 million program will support advanced manufacturing businesses to invest in the equipment, advanced technologies and skilled workforce needed to improve competitiveness and growth.
- The government launched the Regional Development Program for Eastern and Southwestern Ontario in November 2019. Businesses and municipalities can get financial support through the Eastern Ontario Development Fund (EODF) or the Southwestern Ontario Development Fund (SWODF), as well as guided access to a range of complementary services and supports.
- Ontario is investing more than $100 million through the Regional Development Program from 2019 to 2023, while taking a new approach to supporting business growth in eastern and southwestern Ontario communities.
