Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Service celebrates Paramedic Week 2024

Paramedic Week runs from May 19 through May 25.

Kawartha Lakes Paramedic Service is excited to celebrate Paramedic Week from May 19 to May 25. This year’s national theme “Help Us Help You” is an opportunity to highlight the critical role paramedics play in our communities, from providing care to the critically ill and injured to helping to care for vulnerable populations in our community in order to avoid trips to the hospital.

This year’s Paramedic Week is particularly special as the team gets to recognize three Kawartha Lakes paramedics, Darcy Caffin, Mark Oliver and Charles Philips, for 30 years of service in this community.

“Our team is made up of brave, skilled and compassionate professionals who give their best to our community everyday. I am incredibly honoured and proud to be a part of this team and to be witness to the difference they make,” said Paramedics Chief Sara Johnston.

Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs (OAPC) President Michael Sanderson thanked the nearly 11,000 dedicate paramedics in Ontario for their service to their communities.

“Paramedics support their communities in a myriad of ways and play a vital role in the broader healthcare system. Our focus for Paramedic Services Week this year is to share and recognize all they do, while educating the public on when to dial 911 and when alternate resources might better serve their needs,” said Sanderson.

If you see a paramedic in Kawartha Lakes during Paramedic Service Week, we hope that you will join us in extending a heartfelt thank you to them for everything they do for our community.
