Last year, in the middle of the pandemic, Kawartha Lakes Food Source (KLFS) had to rethink how food donations were gathered. A porch pick-up drive that spanned the entire town of Lindsay was held. That support helped our member food banks weather what had been a very busy year.

Fundraising above par for A Place Called Home

A golf tournament held in Dunsford raised over $1,200.00 to support A Place Called Home’s work in Lindsay. Organizer Jim Negus approached Kim Wagg and Nicole Rochette, co-owners of the Coach and Horses to see if they’d help make it happen. Although they are new owners of the Coach, they were aware of the long history of the Coach and Negus working together to make the charity event a success and were immediately on board.

Enter the virtual Kawartha Classic event for A Place Called Home

APCH is encouraging participants to safely walk, run, horseback ride, swim, kayak or cycle following government mandated rules, on or before Aug. 28. There is no registration fee, however, anyone participating in an activity will be required to sign a waiver when they register. Those who wish only to donate do not need to register or sign a waiver.

Children’s summer outreach lunch program is back at King Albert, Queen Victoria

Last year, 328 free lunches were given out to elementary kids in Lindsay through Kawartha Lakes Food Source and its partners’ summer lunch program – but they’re hoping to reach even more children this year. From June 16 to Aug. 20, the school lunch program will be distributing lunches at King Albert Public School from (11 a.m. to Noon) and at Queen Victoria Public School (12:30-1:30 p.m.) on Wednesdays and Fridays, two of Lindsay’s more economically challenged catchment areas.
