Woman blows over three times legal limit for alcohol
A 42-year-old Bethany area woman was arrested recently after Kawartha Lakes Police received several complaints about an impaired driver.
Kawartha Lakes Police were contacted by several people about a suspected impaired driver. After receiving a vehicle description, an officer spotted the vehicle on Weldon Road and stopped and spoke with the female driver.
After the conversation, the officer suspected that the female had been drinking and requested that she provide a breath sample into a roadside screening device.
The woman complied and registered a “fail” on the device. She was then taken to Kawartha Lakes Police Service where she provided samples of her breath that registered readings of almost three times the legal limit.
42-year-old Michelle Stewart of Bethany was charged with operating a vehicle with over the legal limit of alcohol in her blood.
Her licence was suspended for 90 days, and her vehicle was impounded for seven days as a result of the charge. She will appear in the Lindsay Court of Justice on Dec. 21.
