City adopts five-year tourism strategy and focus on outdoor experiences

Council unanimously adopted a five-year tourism strategy that aims to make Kawartha Lakes a destination for tourists outside the busy summer season.

The strategy also focuses on how tourism operators might attract visitors for longer periods of time and package events where individuals might spend more money than they currently do in Kawartha Lakes.

2020/2021 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo is moving forward

Directors and staff of the Ontario Plowmen’s Association (OPA) are proud to announce that they will be moving forward with plans for the 2020/2021 International Plowing Match (IPM) and Rural Expo.

OPA looks forward to welcoming visitors to the City of Kawartha Lakes from Oct. 13-16. The IPM will be hosted at the Lindsay Exhibition and neighbouring farms.

Lindsay lands International Plowing Match 2020 with expected 80,000 visitors

The 103rd edition of the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM) has been postponed until October 2021.

The IPM will run from October 13 to October 16, 2021, and will be held at the Lindsay Fairgrounds and neighbouring farms in Lindsay.

Council approves massive transient camping site at Lindsay fairgrounds
There will also be 64 tent sites and 13 camping cabins.

Kawartha Lakes City Council has approved rezoning for a 172-site transient camping space on the fairgrounds of the Lindsay Exhibition (LEX).

This zoning amendment allows short-term camping, with 95 full-size RV sites, complete with water, electricity, and sewer hook-ups. There will also be 64 tent sites and 13 camping cabins.

Lindsay lands International Plowing Match 2020 with expected 80,000 visitors

The Ontario Plowmen’s Association (OPA) has announced the location of the 2020 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo will be Kawartha Lakes, at the Lindsay Exhibition Fairgrounds.

“We looked at several potential locations for IPM 2020 and this one ticked all the boxes,” says newly minted OPA President Sheila Marshall. “It’s a great spot, in a fantastic, agriculturally rich community. “We’re excited to bring the IPM and its 80,000-plus visitors to Kawartha Lakes.”
