Rosedale boat launch reconstruction fundraiser

By Lindsay Advocate

Community organizers are asking for support for the Rosedale boat launch reconstruction.

This is the busiest boat launch, according to a press release, in Kawartha Lakes and has not had any maintenance since the mid 1960s.

“There is shoreline erosion, potholes in the exit ramp and a hazardous underwater berm with the potential to damage motors, if not corrected. This is a costly project– about $50,000 needs to be raised by the community,” says the release.

Rosedale is holding a COVID-19 friendly fundraiser, selling rainbarrels with all profits going towards this project.

Having a rain barrel allows one to collect natural water (no additives) to use on gardens and lawns. Gardeners say this is the best water for them and is always at the right temperature. They also collect the water away from your foundation to help reduce flooding.

The rain barrels come with mosquito/leaf screens, spigot and overflow valve and are priced at $55. A selection of colours is available. Other accessories are available as well.

Rosedale will receive $10 from each rain barrel towards this project.

Order online before June 23 at rainbarrel.ca/Rosedale for pickup at the Rosedale Parkette July 3, 3 pm – 7 pm of July 4, 9 am to Noon.
