Rehabilitation proposed for Mill Pond Bridge in Omemee

Farm country, Canadian Shield…anything but “cottage country”

At the June 18 Council meeting, a report was brought forward from DM Wills Consulting to address the infrastructure repair for Mill Pond Bridge in Omemee. Mill Pond Bridge was closed earlier this year due to structural safety concerns.

There were four solutions included in the report, all of which included important elements from the feedback heard at the February 4 public meeting. Residents were concerned about pedestrian access along the bridge, as well as maintaining the two-way traffic flow that is currently in place.

Council endorsed the Alternative 1 Solution, which proposed a rehabilitation project for the bridge as well as an addition of a single-lane dedicated for a pedestrian walkway.

A mandatory 30 day appeal period is in place for the proposed solution. Should the project move forward as endorsed, a detailed design and construction proposal will be brought forward by staff for approval in the 2020 budget later on this year.

Mill Pond Bridge will remain closed until further notice. For more information on the project, contact:
