Omemee Days will soon arrive: Prepare for fun
Looking for some fun on the July 1 long weekend? Come to Omemee Days then, from 8 am Saturday June 30 to dusk Sunday night and enjoy two jam-packed days of events and activities for all ages.
The weekend kicks off Saturday morning with a Pancake Breakfast at Coronation Hall at 8 am, hosted by the Omemee Lioness’. Omemee Blooms will also be there, giving out maps of their gardens and free plants to the first 100 participants.
Across the street, check out the yard and bake sale at Trinity United Church and visit Community Care’s information booth. East on King Street, Roger Williams Service Centre hosts another yard and bake sale and north on Sturgeon Street, there will be lots of fun children’s activities at the Baptist Church.
For older kids and youth, the action will be at the beach where the ball hockey tournament starts at 9 am. Tours of the brand new Omemee Library are available from 10 am to 2 pm with a special story time for pre-schoolers.
The Omemee Lions have two barbecue locations – Trinity United Church from 11 am – 2 pm, and the Boat Launch from 12 – 2 pm. And be sure not to miss the Ducktona Race (rubber ducks down the Pigeon River) at 1 pm and then a special ceremony unveiling a new commemorative mural at the Legion between 2 and 4 pm.
Saturday wraps up with music by Frank Wilkes, a Neil Young Tribute band, and a barbecue at the Legion from 4 -8 pm.
Back at the beach on Sunday morning, there are games for all ages with BMX races, a skateboard competition, bike rodeo, bouncy castle, face painting, volleyball, badminton and another barbecue.
