Obituary For Kenneth Wayne Wood

It is with profound love and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Kenneth Wayne Wood on December 9, 2025, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre in Peterborough. Ken was born on March 18, 1942, a son of the late Cline and Verla Wood.

A loving father, Poppa, brother, uncle, and friend, Ken dedicated his life to farming, taking great pride in his cows and the land he loved. He worked at General Motors for 35 years, enjoyed singing, cherished coffee breaks and conversation. He was immensely proud of his grandchildren, always celebrating their achievements and joy. He found happiness in the simple things in life, including family, farming, and the beauty of nature.

Ken was a hard-working and determined man, whose example of dedication and perseverance left a lasting impression on everyone around him. He will be remembered for his steadfastness, love of family, and devotion to the land and animals.

He will forever be missed by his daughter, Marsha Hanak, and her husband Jonathan, and their children, Autumn and Hudson; his partner, Marg Manley; his best friend, Shirley Wood; his brother, Murray Wood (Marg); and many nieces and nephews. He has been reunited with his sisters, Elaine Dewey, Doreen Lamantia, and Kay Wood.

The family extends sincere thanks to Dr. Heidman, Dr. Friesen, Dr. Veselskiy, Nurse Practitioner Joe, and the nurses of PRHC units B2 and D2 for their compassionate care, and to family and friends for their kindness and support.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Lindsay.

Donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or Heart and Stroke Foundation in his memory.

“For this one farmer, the worries are over; lie down and rest your head.

Put the tractor in the shed, hang up your shovel in the barn; your work here on earth is done.

The sun is setting, the cattle are all bedded, the fences have all been mended.

You raised a fine family and worked the land well — now sleep in peace, your day complete.

You will live in our hearts forever.”
