New president chosen for Kawartha Lakes Health Care Initiative board

By Lindsay Advocate

Kawartha Lakes Health Care Initiative (KLHCI) has announced that Lisa Green, RN, has accepted the voluntary position of president, KLHCI board of directors, as of Dec. 10.

Green recently retired after a 31-year career as a nurse and 21 years as a health care administrator.  Her last position at Ross Memorial was as manager of quality and patient experience. Currently, Green is the senior quality and patient experience lead for Bayshore Healthcare.

Green is a former board member of KLHCI and is looking forward to leading the organization over the next two years.  She states that she shares KLHCI’s vision “that everyone living in the City of Kawartha Lakes has a local family doctor.”

Presently, there is a current need for five to seven family doctors in the City of Kawartha Lakes (CKL), not including upcoming retirements over the next few years.  KLHCI has stayed active during COVID and, like every other organization, has pivoted their recruitment strategies to include virtual recruitment fairs and site visits.

Now past-president, Barb van der Veen states that, “during my time as president, KLHCI grew as an organization with the creation/expansion of numerous programs. With Lisa Green’s experience and enthusiasm, I look forward to the organization building on that momentum.”

The KLHCI Board of Directors has representation from throughout Kawartha Lakes. The board is interested in adding new members.

Anyone wishing to be part of this community effort by either volunteering or donating financially to support the ongoing family doctor recruitment and retention programs should contact Cindy Snider, recruitment & retention coordinator at 705-328-6098 or visit the KLHCI website at www.KawarthaLakesDoctors.org.
