Aasif Khakoo will be joining the City of Kawartha Lakes Family Health Team next month as its new executive director.

“The City of Kawartha Lakes Family Health Team Board of Directors wish to extend a sincere welcome to Aasif. We are very happy to have him join our Family Health Team and we look forward to working with him.” said Dr. Peter Anderson, FHT board president.

He has extensive knowledge of the healthcare system, with strong professional background in strategic planning, human and financial resources management, as well as clinical programming.

Khakoo’s professional background includes working at several Family Health Teams as an executive director, hospitals such as the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and Women’s College as director, in long-term care as director of financial policy and planning, and in community support organizations such as WoodGreen and Dixon Hall, also as director.

He began his career in clinical research with the University of Toronto and Mount Sinai Hospital, and has since held several speaking engagements in primary health care, strategic planning and good governance. He currently holds an adjunct faculty role in the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) and School of Graduate Studies at the University of Toronto.

Khakoo has a Masters in Health Administration (MHA), Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) and Certified Management Accounting (CMA) designations, as well as a Certified Healthcare Executive (CHE) designation.

Khakoo hails from Toronto and is looking forward to living, working, and exploring in Kawartha Lakes.

In a media release, Anderson also conveyed a sincere thank you to the members of the executive director recruitment committee for their time, honesty and valuable input in the recruitment process.
